Sitter Sessions

Sitter sessions. What are they and why do you want one?

A sitter is generally classified as any baby who is sitting confidently on their own but not yet crawling. Usually, these littles fall between 6 and 9 months (give or take).

Sitter sessions are possibly one of the most overlooked genres for professional photography sessions.

It seems obvious that you want LOTS of photos of your brand new baby and because the newborn stage is so fleeting, many people don’t even question whether or not they’ll hire a photographer to capture those details of their teeny, tiny new love.

1 year is another stage that is a big deal for photography sessions. It’s a huge milestone for both you and your baby! You want to have photos of that adorable grin and the first taste of cake. The bonus here is that most one-year-olds are moving around in some way whether it’s walking or crawling and they are pretty unpredictable so sticking a cake (or some other exciting food) in front of them is sure to get some kind of photo-worthy response.

But what about the 11 months in between? Your baby goes through an abundance of change in that first year of life, and that sitter stage can produce some of the most adorable gummy (or new tooth) smiles, toe grabs, attempts at balancing on all fours & unique facial expressions. This stage is also a great opportunity to include their favourite toys or stuffies in photos, pose them sitting on a special blanket or wear your favourite outfit (or one of the ones stocked in my studio).

The idea is to capture the amazing stage in between birth and one year and some of the special things that you never want to forget. Plus…grandparents LOVE these (easy gift choice for pretty much any occasion)

Aren’t they adorable? Here’s to celebrating the sitters!!
