she sleeps / maple ridge child photographer

she sleeps at night for 12 hours straight.  she sleeps in the car on long road trips and occasionally on short ones.  it is very, very rare though, for my almost 4 year old girl to fall asleep on the couch mid-morning.

she sleeps.  I photograph.

my girls turn 7 and 4 this year and I’ve suddenly been thrust out of baby & toddlerhood and into a little girl world of rainbow loom, monster high, gymnastics & ballet.  it’s funny how when you’re in the diapers, snuggles & naptime stage, the days can feel incredibly long (especially if they include tantrums) but when you leave that stage and look back, it’s hard to believe how quickly it’s gone.  that’s why when she sleeps, I capture the moment.

those lips.  those eyelashes.  that still baby soft skin.  it feels like yesterday that she slept in my arms and it wont be long before this moment will also feel like just yesterday.  so I document the details.

with every angle & feature memorized by my camera and my heart, I take a moment to enjoy the peaceful innocence of this moment; this child.  in 30 minutes it will be back to snacks, playtime & storybooks….
